Laser Rangefinders
There are many different ways to determine the distance to an object. You can physically measure the distance with a tape measure, or even pace it off, but if you want an accurate measurement with results that will be returned to you almost instantly, you can't beat the ease and dependability of laser rangefinders.
Laser rangefinders have been around for years, and have had many different applications. They were first used in the military, but are now used for a wide range of purposes. They are used by surveyors in order to accurately measure distances, both long and relatively short and they are now available to the consumer in the form of the handheld rangefinder.
The handheld laser rangefinder has it's use in many different applications as well. Many people use them for sports, such as hunting or golfing. In fact, the first handheld rangefinder was used for the purpose of golf. Since that time, however, the laser rangefinder has been used more often for hunting purposes. It is a great way to be able to accurately measure the distance to any object, although they do have their limitations.
Because the handheld rangefinder are made inexpensive for the consumer they do have a limit to the distance in which they are effective. The typical range is anywhere from 400 yards to 1500 yards. It also has a lot to do with the weather and atmospheric conditions that are present when you are using them as well as the reflectivity of the object. Obviously, if you were measuring the distance to a large, shiny object that reflected light well it would give you more range and accuracy that if you were measuring the distance to a tree. For most purposes, however, they work just fine and most users are happy with the accuracy.
When you are looking at laser rangefinders, make sure that you are ready to choose from many different options. Most people that use them have a few different main options that they are looking to choose from, size and function. Because they find their way into limited packing space, many people try to find one that doubles with another tool, such as a binocular. Take you time when looking and choose wisely and you will have a tool that will serve you for years to come.
